Back to Africa
If you’re reading this on or about Feb. 15, I’m currently in Chennai, India, appearing at Comic Con India. More on that trip, including photos, next time, as well as my trip to Alaska Comic Con in Fairbanks.
In the meantime, my return to Comic Con Cape Town has been announced for April 30 through May 3, in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. It will be my second trip to Cape Town, and my third to South Africa, as I’ve also visited Johannesburg, including three amazing safari days at Krueger National Park. (As a side note: when I visited Nairobi, Kenya just before the pandemic, a lot of people there asked me if it was my first time visiting Africa. When I replied, “No, I’ve been to South Africa twice” they would invariably answer, “Ah, so this is your first time in Africa.”)

Cape Town itself is a lovely, vibrant harbor city, with the epic majesty of Table Mountain as a backdrop. My previous visit gave me the opportunity to explore Cape Town, including a celebratory dinner with traditional African food and music. We also journeyed over the mountains to a game reserve and the South African wine country, and made a trip to the Cape of Good Hope at Africa’s tip – home to numerous baboons who grudgingly shared their domain with us – as well as the penguin beaches a little further up the coast. Here’s a peek at a few of the photos from that trip…

I still pinch myself that I get to visit places like this because I write comics. It’s a gift I never take for granted.
I have another con appearance – stateside, this time – in March that hasn’t been announced yet. But I can tell you it’s a show I’ve done previously, and it’s always a great time. There might be bourbon involved.
Don’t be so Negative
The crowdfunding campaign for the new Negative Burn anthology continues of the Zoop platform. The initial funding goal has been surpassed, so it’s stretch-goal time to make the volume bigger and better.

I’ll have a Western story in the collection, drawn by my pal Tom Raney, which is hopefully the start of a longer tale featuring a character Tom and I have come up with.
You can pledge to the campaign here: https://zoop.gg/c/negativeburn
Work, Work, Work
The Kyle Rayner story that Darryl Banks and I did for Green Lantern #600 is in the can and will be on stands next month. No art to share… yet.
I’m juggling a number of other comics projects, none of which have been formally announced, so there’s not much I can say about them yet. There’s some espionage, some John Wick-style violence, some pulp adventure, some mythology, and some more espionage. Man does not live by superheroes alone.
